i did in the past vs. I had done

Good day,

Question 1.

If I wanted to tell my friend that my original music compositions were terrible in the past. But, I have improved a lot and my work sounds better now.

Should I say:

A:
The songs that I did in the past were terrible. (Simple past tense)
B:
The songs that I had done were terrible. (Past perfect tense)

I’m confuse about which sentence I should use, because the songs I did in the past were completed in different period of time.

Question 2.

Can I use the word “works” to represent the songs I have composed?
Or is the word limited to only large amount of compositions done by famous people?

The songs that I did in the past were terrible. (Simple past tense)-- Use past perfect only when the chronological order of the 2 past events is otherwise unclear.

You can use ‘works’, but ‘songs’ or ‘compositions’ might be better choices.

It’s clear to me now …Thanks .
