I beg your pardon vs. Excuse me

Could anybody explain me the diffirence between this two sentences? I can’t that but I always prefer to use first one. Maybe, one of this is British speaking or American I don’t know…

The first is usually considered more formal and can be used to indicate that you didn’t hear what someone has said. ‘Excuse’ me is often used when you want to ask someone a question/ask someone the way/direction/for information os simply to interrupt, in a conversation.
