I am fine. What about you? How about you?

Hi teachers,

  1. I am fine. What about you? How about you? Difference between how about and what about?

  2. How about buying this? What about buying this? Difference between how about and what about?

  3. Come under umbrella. Correct?

Many thanks.

1/2. In both cases I see no difference in meaning, but “how” seems to have a more polite or refined nuance, more noticeably in #1 since the subject matter is more personal.

  1. “Come under the/my/this/etc. umbrella.”
