Hurried or hurriedly

Which is correct?

  1. I hurried home to meet them. (adjective)

  2. I hurriedly went home to meet them. (adverb)

hurry can be used as verb, so hurried is the past tense of verb - hurry.
I hurried home…, It may possible to use. I have no idea whether it’s correct, but the grammar is right.

The sentence is correct. You have not identified the word type correctly.

2 is okay but sounds awkward in comparison to (1).
