How to use the word "constitutes"?

Hi Everyone,

I need how to use the word “constitutes” in a sentence in the following text
say for instance, you are sitting in a hall with lots of other people.what is the basis of this hall? The basis is the “foundation” . Without the foundation the walls cannot stand.without the walls there can be no roof.

In the above passage ,we describe the basis of the hall.
what i want to know is ,can we say " The foundation, walls and the roof constitutes the hall.If incorrect ,how should the sentence be re wriiten to emphasis the above meaning .
can someone shed some light on this issue

.
I suggest that you invert it to place the stress where it belongs-- toward the end of the sentence:

The hall is constituted of its foundation, its walls and its roof.
