Hi, everyone
I looked up the term ‘Vietnam’ on the Internet, such as Youtube, online dictionary etc. But I still want to make sure if I speak ‘Vietnam’ correctly? Could you check the voice message for me? Thanks in advance.

This is how I say it - now tell me how to pronounce Nguyen.
You also need to learn how to spell it, Maggie!
Vietnam.
It does seem a bit weird to have to ask for help in pronouncing the name of your own country. It seems more fair to pronounce it how the natives do and make the rest rest of the world adapt to your pronunciation. Another aspect is many Vietnamese spell it as if it is two words: Viet Nam. Is it two separate words in your language?
Hi, Luschen and Beees
Thanks for your help.
I would like to ask Luschen that you mentioned about that 'It does seem a bit weird to have to ask for help in pronouncing the name of your own country.' Do you think that I am from Vietnam? Actually, I am from Taiwan where is near Veitnam. I may know your feeling that Vietnam and Taiwan are very similar for you probably, but I am really from Taiwan. I haven't been to Vietnam where many English learners who are on the Internet come from.
By the way, I correct the spelling of the term, Vietnam, on the post, or I am afraid that I would make other English learners get confused. Also, I post the voice message again.
Take care.
Maggie:)
The most important element linguistically in communication to make people understand what you say, if you say it perfectly that is fine, if not, at least you make people understand you. Concerning how to pronounce Vietnam, I don,t think it is necessarily (from grammatical point of view) how to pronounce this word, because principally it is a foreign word, in any way you pronounce it. They will understand it.
Hi, sorry about my misunderstanding.
Hi! I’m a Vietnamese. I’m very glad that you care about our pronounciation. In fact, we don’t talk up and down like English. I agree with Ouddene Bouziane that we know whatever you say in Vietnamese. Therefore, don’t worry about your pronounciation, Maggie.
