How to pronounce "Youth"?

Hi,

I always was convinced that the “ou” within “youth” was to pronounce like the “ow” in “brown”. Now in a commercial they spoke it like the “ou” in “you”. Can anyone please help me out of my confusion?

Life’s complicated, I’m afraid. You would pronounce the ‘ou’ in ‘youth’ as you would say the ‘ou’ in ‘you’. With ‘south’ and ‘mouth’ the ‘ou’ is pronounced to rhyme with ‘ow’ in ‘cow’.

I yet were happy if I had got the language´s rules, not to talk about those of life. lol

I guess there is no rule how to deal with the pronunciation, is there?

I found four, the number. From what I´m told it is pronounced like the preposition for. Just in case I pronounced it right.
