how to pronounce "reign"

How do you pronounce the word “reign” as in “he was helpless under the reign of his egotism”. (Specifically the “gn” portion)

Native North American English speakers don’t seem to differentiate between a “n” (alveolar nasal) and a “ŋ” (velar nasal) and to them it’s all the same sound so it’s hard to ask someone. They will just say “it’s a silent g” yet unknowingly pronounce it differently. In many languages a g modifies the nasal to a velar for example English words ending in “ing” but I know this is not the case in all words like the English word “sign”.

Hello DWS,
reign is spoken just as rain/reɪn/.
But you’ve mixed up something. A dumb g is followed by consonants usually h,n like mighty /ˈmaɪ.ti/ or even reign.
The /ŋ-sound however is spelled as ‘ng’ like strength /streŋθ/ or anger /ˈæŋ.gər /.
A written ‘ng’ doesn’t have to pronounce as /ŋ like range/reɪndʒ/ or engage/ɪnˈgeɪdʒ/.
