How to describe a land's measurement?

Hello,

If there is a space land needs to be measured and announced.
Then how can I phrase the sentense when it comes to the measurement?
Let’s say the land space = 1.8 million square meters.

Do you just want a sentence like “The land has an area of 1.8 million square meters”? (Note, the correct word here is “area”, not “space”.)

If you want anything more specific then I think you will have to explain more about the context.

“1.8 million square meters” is not wrong, but for land measurement it will often be better to say “180 hectares”.

Thanks, Dozy.
That was all I want; “The land has an area of 1.8 million square meters”

and thank you so much for the “180 hectares”.
it is a new info to me.

Hi again,

I need to confirm the following point; Is “1 Hectare” equals to “1 square meter”?

Thank you,…

They are different size measures, so no.
1 hectare is 10000 square meters.

Thank you, Beee.

Then I shouldn’t use “hectare” when the figure was measured in a “square meter”.

In your example there were a great number of square metres! As a hectare is a measure which covers a larger area, it makes sense to convert the measure and use the larger unit: ‘180 hectares’ instead of ‘1800000 square meters’ (which is what you are saying when you use ‘1.8million’). This gives you the same actual area of land, but most people find thinking of 180 of something far more accessible than trying to think of 1800000 of something.

Well, obviously you have to do the numeric conversion. As mentioned above, 1.8 million square meters is 180 hectares. Large areas of land are usually measured in hectares or square kilometres in the metric system. It makes the numbers smaller and easier to visualise. It’s hard to visualise 1.8 million square meters. However, stating large areas in square metres is not actually incorrect.
