How should I study this? I have bought a SAT book and I am reviewing it curently.

I have bought a SAT book and I am reviewing it curently. I have also borrowed books from the library. I have learned 504 words and counting. I will also buy the CollegeBoard book. Will two books be enough to go by? I saw that one site has many many practice tests and will do that later. What else should I do to boost my knowledge? What is the average score that others receive?

Localee,

To prepare for the SAT I recommend using all the resources from the website http://www.rocketreview.com as well as buying Adam Robinson’s book “Rocket Review Revolution.” This book teaches you to think in the ways that the top scoring students do. They don’t just work hard they actually strategize in uniquely effective ways. Robinson’s exercises helps you to become one of these students.

To prepare for the Essay I recommend my book How to Write Fast and Effectively for the New SAT Essay which you can purchase at SAT Essay

It’s not so simple to make a smashing written essay, preferably if you are booked.

I think it really depends on how you learn. I’d say at this point, get everything you can out of the books you have. Don’t just skim or use sections. After you really get through them, judge if you will make more progress with new books.

On the other hand, if the books you have don’t feel right to you, move on to something new. There are a lot of approaches, so find what works for you.

For a good friend of mine, Kaplan was the answer. He got really into their style and had a lot of success. I tried using his books, but the approach seemed very strict–it was the Kaplan method or nothing. So I had to look around and try a few other books.

I ended up really liking [u]SAT 1, SAT Books, 2200+ SAT Preparation Strategy @ MY-SAT.com. This ebook was really straightforward and practical–not a lot of corporate branding like with Kaplan and Princeton Review. The same group publishes this one [u]SAT 1, SAT Books, 2200+ SAT Preparation Strategy @ MY-SAT.com, which was a big help with grammar. They both come with a lot of complementary online resources too. For a print book, I liked the McGraw Hill book.

Good luck!

Everybody i talk to who have succeeded with high scores swears by taking lots of practice tests. thats why i recommend signing up for the biweekly tests at practicethesat.com

Great site ^^^^^ The best thing that its free to use and they give out a prize to the top 2 scorers. win win situation. you practice and if you do well you cash in…

College Board books are known as the best prep books in general because they are the makers of the actual SAT test.
