How do you say "I love you" to a girl?

Hi everyone,

If a man likes a girl, and he wants her to be his girlfriend. He probably would give her some flowers or talk with hers a lot. He might call her very often. I am wondering how you depict this kind of action.

[i]John wants to confess to Vanessa.

John wants to catch Vanessa.

John wants to go out with Vanessa.[/i]

Which one would you use or what would you say?
