You are aware that " odd " is not the singular of odds, and has a completely different meaning .
Odd = peculiar, or strange.
" That’s an odd smell."
" He is an odd kind of person ."

Thank you for your detaild explanations, I’ll bear in mind that odds is not the plural(openly, I thought it was) form of odd and they are different in meaning.
