Hello kitos. thanks for reading my essay in advance.
Every device has its advantages and disadvantages, the same case is with a television. Some people may think movies or television have only bad effects on people’s behavior. I believe that it all depends on the person.
On one hand, a television helps people to get to know what is happening around the world. For instance, by watching channels such as CNN, BBC we can get to know what happens in each country. Therefore, we avoid being dropped behind the world of information. By changing channels, we can watch variety of other programs like movies. I think it is essential for all of us to watch movies in our spare time. Sometimes, after an exhausted day working out, we may need to relax and reenergize ourselves. Besides, there is no need of spending money and going to a cinema. In addition, television can also play an important role on education. For example, I try to watch many programs in English so as to improve my languages skills.
On the other hand, movies or television can be disadvantageous. The most common drawbacks are physical , mental, and psychological problems. As we know, watching movies or television are passive activities. For instance, when we watch a movie, we are not imagining anything and are only limited to the creativity of actors/actresses or directors. As a result, we won’t be able to exercise our brains. Watching television for hours can also cause physical damage. Such as eyestrain or obesity. For example, a child sitting in front of a television and watching cartoons for hours instead of studying , going out and taking fresh air, or doing some exercise. In addition, television can effect people’s behavior. For example, a person who watches violent programs may become less sensitive to the pains of others.
In conclusion, It is true that movies and television can influence our behavior negatively. However, I also think that they can keep us up to date, entertain us , and educate us provided that we know what to watch, how much to watch, and how to respond to what we watch.
