Hello, it's me from Germany...

Hello everybody,

It is great to see the enthusastic participtation of all for enhancing the proficiency of skills in English. I really find this forum very helpful. You know, the concept of “global village” indirectly stresses the importance of English. Our linguistic proficiency of English is an highly needed parameter for finding a splendid job.

By writing in the forums we can improve our writing skills and get corrected our mistakes. But , to speak English fluently , we should inculcate the habit of speaking in English always. We should raise our confidence level by making it a regular practise. Hundred present of perfection is always an utopian thought. So we should not be hesitant of speaking in English for commiting errors.

Whenever I am alone I use to speak myself in English. I just imagine something and try to articulate it. We can follow our own style but our final aim is to attain the good command of English.

Thanks,
Samrat

Hi Samrat! Your English is good. Where did you learn English?
Spider

Hi Spiderman ,

Thanks for the compliment. It is always my desire to enhance my proficieny in English. From, my school days onwards English is one of the subjects and we Indians naturally give more respect to English.

By the by , which country do you belong to? How often do you get chance to make your communication in English?

Samrat

it’s [color=blue]by the way and w[color=blue]hich country do you live in

Dear Yo,

Thanks for your interest in correcting my mistakes. But still I feel , my statement is also not a wrong one. If we want to change our subject to other matters we usually say “By the by” so is “By the way”. "Which country do you live in? " is an apt one if we are interested in knowing the country of the person currently living. That too, I fell this should be said in present continuous tense, "Which country are you living in? " . I just want to know the orgin of the person hence I strongly feel “Which country do you belong to?” will do.

Again many thanks for your advice.

Samrat

i live in canada, and i have never heard anyone say by the by, i’d guess because it doesn’t make any sense with the flow of words. Which country do you belong to yes it is correct but when you read it outloud it doesnt sound right. I mean you can use it no problem, but saying which country do you live in just sounds better. Also if you want to know the persons origin just say what is your background or where were you born. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dear Yo,

Thanks again. Your points are noted. By the way, I meant “By the Bye” not “By the by”. There was a typo error in my post.

Thanks,
Samrat

Hi! What does it mean?
By the bye
so long

“By the Bye” means as same as “By the way”. If we want to switch our subject from one to other it will be used.

Thanks,
Samrat

Привет, Елена!
