Greetings Elena,
Thank you for just saying Hallo and joining us on the Forum.
I know some people out there are reading our exchanges on the Forum but are too shy to jump in and ask a question or reply to another.
There are lots of people who are bursting to say something but don?t trust themselves because they are afraid to make a mistake.
Don?t worry be happy. We are not all born perfect otherwise we wouldn?t be on this planet. How many mistakes did you make trying to ride a bike? Does that bother you today? Not in the least! The same goes for learning English. The mistakes you make today will be forgotten in a few days because you will have learnt the correct way. Making mistakes is part of learning. Even a famous Corporate Executive has said, “I only employ people who have the courage to make mistakes and take calculated risks otherwise my company won?t grow and I?ll end up carrying my staff”.
The wonderful thing about the English Language is;
We … mother-tongue English speakers … are not bothered about your grammar mistakes, I would go as far as saying we are blind to them. Because English is such a vast and flexible language, even if you make a mistake it could also be correct without you knowing it or even an English speaking person may not recognise the mistake.
The point I?m making is -
we are pleased that you are trying, that?s a compliment to us anyway, and we are glad to help when you need it.
we are interested in “what” you are trying to express, “not how” you express it - that will come with practice.
because English is spoken all over the world we expect it to come back to us in an altered form which is also understandable.
we appreciate that you have a different culture which will colour the way you say something in English. That also makes it enjoyable.
So listen everybody out there - jump in and join us. Don?t be shy.
Your input is valuable and you will learn alot in a short time. Where else can you practice your written English and make mistakes where nobody can see you and make progress at the same time. Here you can practice your English, and each improvement will give you the confidence to put it into real practice at the next opportunity.
I am looking forward to your contributions Elena, however small they are.
Best Wishes, Bruce.
Hello Elena!
Where do you come from? About what do you write your articles? I live in Singapore and work in a newspaper as a lady journalist. Sometimes for my activity I need English of knowledge. Therefore I seek to communicate each possibility with the nice people on English.
Hello Koko! Well that you write me. I come from Kazakhstan. I live now in Leipzig. I write articles on Russian. I work for the newspaper “Leipziger.RU”: www.leipziger.ru
Hi Bruce!
You are very open humans and have so much energy and incentive for writing the large and valuable texts. Are you probably freelance a journalist?
Well people.
I hope that Bruce is also a journalist. And in this forum only the people our occupation meet. Elena, how long you work as a journalist at Leipziger.RU? Does the team please you? Where can I buy print version of the newspaper?
Koko
I hope. The valuable at this forum is that people from different countries can express themselves and everyone has their own qualities and language styles.
I think it’s more important to speak English regularly than to read. After all English is much simpler than any other language and it would be stupid not to use the opportunity…
