It is better to have friends who are intelligent to have friends who have good sense of humor.
Friends have great influence on my life. They are always beside me when I need them, share the pain and give me necessary advices. I have a widen network of friends who come from different ages, occupation and characteristics. From my experience, I partly agree with one statement that it is better to have friends who are intelligent to have friends who have good sense of humor.
Firstly, smart friends encourage me to more succeed in life. They are endowed with the logic and critical thinking. Being close to them, I am able to learn how to solve a problem well, which is useful to my future’s career. A friend of mine, Thach, is one of the most intelligent people that I have ever known. When we were still in high school, we usually discussed Math exercises together. The way he solved a problem in Math contributed to the way I thought logically and clearly. After that, I got a very high Math score in national final exam. Thach played an important role in my success.
Secondly, intelligent friends help me more confident. There is always a peer pressure between friends. If my friends hope to be successful and happy in life, I also want to the same thing. Therefore, taking to many intelligent people, I don’t want to be left behind. I make the great efforts, set my goals and try hard. I become a confident person who does not feel nervous when talking with a smart co-worker or a competent competitor.
Last but not least, I admit sometime we need a humorous friend than an intelligent person. I used to share my mistake at work with an amazingly smart girl. The only thing she talked was analyzing it and regarded it as an unforgiveable mistake. I was shocked and so sad. Fortunately, another friend came and made joke to me, which helped me feel little comfortable. He was so nice to me and I overcame this trouble quickly.
To conclude, friendship is one of the greatest relationship. Obviously, it is better to have intelligent friends but this both-side affair does not require that your friend must be an intelligent person. Therefore, we should respect what we have and whom we make friends with.
Hi Bigbabu, I thought your essay was pretty good. You have some very good detailed and personal examples that support your arguments well. Your thesis statement is pretty weak though and I would not include a paragraph that contradicts your thesis unless you are able to immediately respond to it or somehow show that it is not significant. I think your writing quality in this one is at the 4 level, but these factors might lower your score a bit.
