Has been Done Vs is Done

Hi All,
I am having some confusion between “Has Been Done and is Done”.
What is the difference bettwen those two?
And when do we need to use those two?

Thanks in advance,
Saravanakumar.

Hi Saravanakumar,

Well, if you think about the difference between the present perfect (has been) and the simple present (is), that should help clear things up a bit.

Otherwise, it would be very helpful if you gave us the sentence or sentences you want to use those in.

Basically, ‘is done’ might refer to actions that people do or complete with some degree of regularity, or ‘is done’ might refer to the state that something is currently in.

  • All the cooking and cleaning is done by his daughter.
  • My report is done. How many copies should I make?

‘Has been done’ might refer to the fact that someone did something at some unspecified time in the past.

  • Although a lot of research has been done, much more is still needed.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

For example,
I am doing one task, my friend is doing one task. And, I am updating the things to my lead. I know when I have completed my task. But, I dono when he has completed.

So, how can I mention?

Thanks in advance,
Saravanakumar.

I have done my task but I don’t know i[/i] whether he has done his yet.

If he is also done means?

Take your pick:

We have done our tasks.
I have done my task and he has done his.
We have both completed our tasks.
Our tasks are completed.
We have both finished (our tasks).
His task is finished and so is mine.

There are other possibilities too, but none of them require ‘has been’.

If a system is doing a job, then can i use has been?

Not really, the same rules apply, but you would use ‘the system’ or ‘it’. The tenses don’t change.

You would use has been in reference to a point in time:

It has been doing that job since last week.
IHe has been working on that for two months now.

Ok.

Thank you so much for your replies.

‘admitted in hospital’ uses an incorrect preposition. It should be ‘admitted into hospital’ or ‘admitted to hospital’.
The change of tense means the sentence does not carry quite the same meaning.

My comments about the rest are the same as I’ve just made in your other duplicate thread on this subject.
