Hello,
Can you help me to explain the meaning of “half burnt” in this sentence: “A small abandoned boat, paint peeling from it everywhere, its wood rotting and half burnt.”
Thank you
Jung
Where did you find this sentence? I think it’s not really good. Though, half burnt may mean burnt to some extent or somewhat burnt.
Hi,
burnt(adjective) - destroyed or badly damaged by fire; “a row of burned houses”; “a charred bit of burnt wood”;
calcined with a resultant darkening of colour.
This sentence from a novel. It makes me very confused.
Why?
The writer usually uses his own way of thinking to write his novels. That makes him distinguished between other writers. In novels, grammar is also not minded.
