Hi,

Which word should I use ‘group-mate or classmate’ when I speak about my fellow students at uni?

I would use ‘classmate’. I’ve never heard the term ‘group mate’ used.

“classmate” is OK. I have never heard the term “group-mate”. It sounds odd to me. Did you see it used somewhere?

I think it’s Ukrainian-English calque because we use ‘classmate’ for school and ‘gruopmate’ for college.
