GRE Writing Part, Argument Analysis

Ladies and gentlemen, do you know if the argument analysis critique requires a structured essay or is acceptable to write in a more relaxed style - i.e. several connected (but not strictly structured)? I could not figure this out from the instructions. Thank you. Ben.

I am fairly sure it should be written coherent and structured (in prose), but I am not sure what you mean by a more relaxed style.

you definitely shouldn’t write something like this:

 1. (about paragraph 2): wrong because financial issues don’t affect this problem…
 2. I also didn’t like the part about …

Immortal thank you for your reply.

I mean does it have to be

(1) Formal Essay structure
Introduct
Pr1
Pr2
Pr3
.
.
Conclusion.

or (2) Individual points
Pr1=Pt1
Pr2=Pt2
.
.

Where, each paragraph is written in a formal style.

Ben

It’s not required but you’ll get a higher score if you structure it (like in #1 of your example).
