GRE test in foreign countries - english or not?

Hi

I have kind of a stupid question, I am from Austria and want to take the GRE in order to do my PhD in New York. I’m pretty sure the GRE test is in english even if I perform the test in my home country - but could somebody please confirm it won’t be in german? I don’t want to start learning vocabularly and then find out it’s dispensable (haha I just learned that one) :).

Also, do you think being a foreigner will be considered by the university, if they look at the verbal test score?

Thank you very much!
Immo

Hi Immo,

Yes the GRE is in English and there is no other language version of that test. As for being a foreigner, since you want to study at a New York university you have to be able to understand academic English otherwise it’ll be better for you to study in Austria.
