GRE Barrons word list

i wanna know if the barrons word list is sufficient for the GRE exam
thanks in advance

Hi Abhi,

In addition to knowing the meaning of words on the Barrons list, what do you think might be important for you? For example, what skills do you need in the Analytic Writing section? How about the reading comprehension passages – do you think that knowing some word definitions will be sufficient to pass the exam? Let me ask you another question: Why are you preparing for the GRE – what do you want to do once you pass the test?[YSaerTTEW443543]

hi .
sorry for the late reply.

I would like to pursue my masters in Computer Science and Engineering once i pass the test.

I am taking up my GRE on september 27th. so i wanted to know the best source to improve my vocabulary in the given short period of time.

Also my GPA is not very good. so can it be covered up by any means (e.g. a very high score like 1550+, work experience etc)

I really wanna get into a top school like yale, caltech or purdue etc. so what is your advice for me.

thanks.

Hi Abhi,

To increase your vocabulary, you need to get as much exposure to English as possible. Create your own individual learning plan that includes all language disciplines: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Concentrate on listening and reading as these are the activities that will help you learn new phrases. By the way, what do you want to study and why do you want to get into a top university?[YSaerTTEW443543]

i want to get into a top school simply because that would give me one of the best possible education that one could get.

Can Anyone Please help me to understand the scoring pattern of GRE?

Thanks so much

Hello, Divya here…
Can you pls guide me how exactly should I prepare for the GRE Vocab part?? I mean the methodology to be followed because its pretty confusing.

I gave my GRE few days back… I got very few antonyms out of Barron’s, but before my exam, I have heard from many test-takers who had given test tht words apart frm barrons also have gud chances… So barron’s is not enough to be sure that you can answer each and every antonym in the test… So I had collected words which are not from Barron’s from somewhere… If any1 is interested in doin that all words do email me, I will give you the wordlist for sure… But before you prepare these words, be prepared of Barron’s wordlist… my email id is mp 287 7168 @ yahoo.co.in

Hi Manish,

Thanks for the words apart from barron. Even I think that nowadays words in GRE are not only from barron. So, I think its better to increase your vocab as much as you can.

You may see the Ivy League Vocabulary.

more then enough is the simple answer besides practice is also needed I am not sure whether you can grab all 3500+ words in one go.
