Grammar question: Yes vs. So

PLease read:

1.Do you think he’ll go there? If yes, please…
2.Do you think he’ll go there? If so, please…

I think (1) and (2) have the same meaning. Am I right?

I’d also say both mean the same thing. :wink:

BUT
I suspect that native speakers might disagree as to whether both are correct. 8)

(Personally, I think both yes and so are OK in the sentence given. But I also think so works a bit more naturally with a sentence such as “I think he’ll go.” ) :wink:

They mean the same, and are both correct.
But So is more suitable, it flows better.
