Grammar: present or past

I saw this sentence somewhere:

Someone close to you will try to tell you what to do, but it’s time you called the shots, so don’t be afraid to make your own decisions.

but I think it should be “call” instead of “called”:

Someone close to you will try to tell you what to do, but it’s time you call the shots, so don’t be afraid to make your own decisions.

Am I correct?

When you talk about an action that should have already been done we use the simple past for hypothetical meaning.
