I would like to know if there is any difference in the meaning or emphasis between (or are they completely synonymous?):
X is much bigger than Y.
X is far bigger than Y.
X is a lot bigger than Y.

There is not a huge difference between these. For me, there is a sense that “far” has the most weight.
“a lot” tends to sound more informal.
