Governments spend millions of dollars each year on their space programmes. Most recently, Mars is the focus of scientists’ attention. Some people think this money would be better spent on dealing with problems closer to home. Do you agree or disagree?

From my point of view, there is always a dilemma how to spend financial sources. At the same time, a significant part of society believes that sectors like medical service or education are more important for the state than remote areas in the universe. However, I cannot support this statement because of several reasons, such as a serious development of science which is provoked by explorations of organisations as NASA, and the role of space researches in the economical growth.
First of all, it is important to outline, that the space industry has become as a locomotive of modern science. Explorations of space depend on potential of fundamental sciences as physics and chemistry. As a result, this close connection encourages the development of present technologies which have positive effect on everyday life. For example, many technical devices firstly were used for researches of space, and after that they have become widespread among ordinary people, for instance, satellite television.
Secondly, the stability of economy is connected with the situation in manufacturing. In this case, vast space industry is a vital impulse for the global financial affairs. A realisation of big projects like exploration of the solar system creates many orders for different sectors of economy as a heavy industry, or electronics. These positive trends enhance the amount of taxes for state budget and these financial resources can sustain educational or pension systems.
In conclusion, it is crucial to emphasise some significant aspects. It is well known that certain part of society support the idea that space explorations are waste of money. However, this position can be criticised because of some facts, such as the importance of space researches for fundamental science, and the role which is played by science in the economy.
