gotta love

Hello everyone,

Could anybody tell me what “gotta love” means, (possibly where does it come from) and how should I use it?

Examples:

“gotta love 'em”
“ahh, gotta love them puppies”
“gotta love me some palm trees”
“gotta love me some blush”
“gotta love me some chest hair”
“gotta love me some charred corpses”

and so on… (they are all Google quotations)

Thanks.

Hi,
gotta (Informal)
Contraction of got to: I gotta go home.

I guess this link will help you

urbandictionary.com/define.p … otta+love+

Thank you kindly Geo777, that link was really helpful. I’m still curious about how did they get to say “gotta love me some”, but eventually I’ll take it as just another mysterious oddity (which I’ll never use).

Just slovenly speech Baubau, like so many other contractions - ‘got to’ pronounced in a ‘lazy’ way until the two words run together, and heard like this so frequently that it becomes common.

my mistake: I’m guilty of not reading the preceding comment properly, and missed the word ‘some’.

You are welcome!

You could replace “gotta” or “got to” with “have to” or “must”. However, it’s up to you to determine whether it’s sarcasm.
