got in

  1. The boat got in an area of shallow marshes.
  2. The thief got in through the window.
What is the meaning of ‘got in’ in each sentences?
    Thanks.

Not a teacher. Not a native speaker.
In your second sentence it means “enter”.

In (1) ‘got in’ is not a good choice. It’s a poor way of saying:
The boat entered an area of shallow marshes.

Are you sure the original wasn’t
The boat got stuck in an area of shallow marshes?
That would be a much more logical way of using ‘got… in’ there.
