Well I took the exam yesterday and I got a score of 1100 (720 quant and 380 verbal).
I am bit satisfied with this score since I was struggling with GRE in the last 6 months.
It is like the 3rd time i do this exam and this time I got this higher score.
It is bit low but it is better than nothing. I am an international student so I hope they will get into consideration the verbal part. However I got 100 on Toefl ibt.
I memorized words and words (from Barron’s and Princeton) but in unfortunately none came!
Good luck for all,
I guess I should earn a PhD degree in GRE!
congrats~~ I just wanna get it over with for good. .was the test just like the test in powerprep? what are the hardest type math questions? I mean, was the verbal that hard? I’m just really worried cuz i have to take it next tuesday. thanks
Eventough your score is not so high, it is still considerable for a international student. I am also preparing for GRE and going to take it on Jan. 29. As you said, I also memorized about 1500 words through GRE Bible however there is no significant change on verbal score. It still ranges between 320-420. I think that it depends on your chance. Even if you memorize 2500 words, it is still possible to have all questions from the rest 500 words. That is annoying but true. I am aiming a score between 1100-1200 and that seems like that it is up to my chance to get these scores Also if you have any advice for the week just before the test date, we will appreciate.
I believe that Verbal is a matter of luck
I studied with my friend the same words , but he got 510 on verbal. He is not better than me in English though!
u should practice and practice math. This is what I did.
I took the exam yesterday and got 1110 (770 Q + 340 V). I do not even talk about verbal. Especially analogies are hardest I have ever seen. Anyway, I gained the score I need despite of low verbal score. nothing to do with verbal, I do not have time to study and retake the test so I am going to apply with these scores. I think my toefl score will compensate the low gre verbal score and my other credentials are good so I think I will be admitted one of the three universities I am going to apply. Also, I will appreciate if you name one or two univesity (between first 300) that may accept international students with low verbal scores.
Honestly I don’t know which universities accept this low verbal score. It depends on your major chosen.
From my side, I didnt apply to Wisconsin , Berkely or Cornell b/c I am sure that they wt even look at my file when they see my score
I sent my application to OSU, Kansas State , Georgia, and Mcgill.
hahaha agree with you Trabz, it will be highly imaginary to apply the universities between top 10 with these low verbal scores. university of utah, san diego state and texas a&m university are the universities i am going to apply. in addition to these universities i concieve to apply either Kansas State or Colorado State, have not decide about it yet. Also maybe i could apply one university that does not require GRE scores for admission. I know that Portland State and Cal State Long Beach accepts students without GRE test for certain departments.
