The difference???
Hi,
This is a bit of a tall order!
Can I suggest you try a few yourself and I would recommend that you ask a proper question: Can you please tell me the differences between these verbs?
Alan
Good morning Alan. That question was always going to be a CRACKER !
Hoangquanhp, good morning to you also. as Alan says, that group of questions was a tall order. Far easier, and perhaps more beneficial to you, that you research them yourself on-line. Make no mistake, your questions are welcome, but sometimes Alan and the Moderators are just too busy to take the amount of time it would require to reply to trivia.
Take care. Kitosdad.
My English is far from perfect, but I can give you some clues . .
shine - related to light emission, - sun shines
glow - often related to heat - glowing red hot metal etc.
sparkle - if you know what a sparkle is, it is self-explanatory
shimmer - water surface shimmers
glint - I whould say it is similar to a flash, but with much lower intensity, “glint in her eyes” and so forth
glisten - when something is reflecting light?
twinkle - randomly interrupted shining?
glitter - I would compare this to what gold does in sunlight. It might be similar to glisten, but without the sparkle in it ?
I hope it makes sense.
I think this is an excellent answer. One point I would add is that “glisten” has a connotation of being covered by a thin sheen or droplets or crystals of water or ice, which is what is reflecting the light.
