Hi everyone, can you please tell me what exactly ‘get right means’ in the following context? Many thanks and Merry Christmas, Torsten
I will have faith in man
That is hard to understand
Show some humility
You have the ability
Get right with me
Friends, if you’ve lost your way
You will find it again some day
Come down from your pedestals
And open your mouths that’s all
Get right with me
Life is such a short thing
That I cannot comprehend
But if this life were a bought thing
There are ways I know we’d mend
People, take my advice
Already told you once, once or twice
Don’t waste your energy
Making apologies
Get right with me[YSaerTTEW443543]
I am not sure, but a common expression in the U.S. is to “get right with God” or “get right with Jesus”, meaning to turn back to God and follow his ways. Could God be the speaker in these lyrics?
True, but how about the “if life is a bought thing”? Christians often say that their lives have been “bought by the blood of Christ”, but the line does not really make sense otherwise.
Also, God might not exactly address people as ‘friends’. Does God have any friends? Just worshipers and followers but friends, comrades, colleagues or co-workers? I don’t think so.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Not being a fan of Depeche Mode, I still think it has nothing to do with divinity:
"get straight definition and get right
in. to take a dose of a drug to end drug craving. (Drugs.) : You’ll never get straight if you keep smoking that stuff. , I need to get right before anything else. "http://dictionary.reference.com/idioms/get+right
