Hi!

A: Hello, I need to register for a class.
B: What class are you trying to take?
A: I want to take a Psychology class.
B: Well, there are only two classes open.
A: Can you tell me what days the classes are on?
B: One class is on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. ←

Which is correct:

1- … from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
2- … from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Thank you

The correct and more standard form is:

2 β€” … from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Here’s why:

  • When you use β€œfrom,” you generally include β€œto” (or use an en dash) and mention β€œp.m.” only once at the end if both times are in the same period (AM/PM).
  • Including β€œp.m.” twice (Option 1) is redundant and less common in formal writing.

Correct examples:

  • The class is from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
  • The class is from 2:00–4:00 p.m.
