Fortnight (I am going on holiday in one and half week time...)

I am curious that fourteen nights became fourteen days!

Hauhao, to be honest I don’t understand you, I don’t know these letters:) We use roman alphabet same as English, French, German etc. and I also don’t know what sumoist and Kotoshu are…

Regarding it, I suggest you to read the following website.

simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungary

Please don’t mistake it, My nation is not the same as Russian, even I don’t speak any Russian at all, my language is related to Finnish and a little bit Estonian.

I am terribly sorry, TIE! I have been mistaken your country. I thought you were from Bulgaria, so I said I enjoy your yogurt. I am so sorry!

No problem mate or dude or whatever you like  I got used to it people are likely to mistake my country with Bulgaria. The origin of my country is a thousand miles away from slav nations, like I said it’s rather related to Finnish and that sort of area, however researchers keenly debate about it.

By the way Can you tell me about your town in Japan, How’s life going over there? I’ve never had any acquaintance or friend from Asia before. I would be interested in your country, if you don’t mind.

Of course, TIE. I am living in Chiba Prefecture on the side of Tokyo, about an hour’s drive from downtown Tokyo, but I prefer to take subways or trains to go around: which is more eco, as we say here, but actually it’s because the road traffic is bad. Everyday life is quite simple here, at least mine. As far as I am concerned, people around me seem considerably “independent” and thus have less intercommunications than peoples in other countries as I have been to.

I love Europe very much as well as the US, although I know less about the former. To me, everywhere is a picture in Europe, and the feeling is so cosy and warm. Especially, I love the color of Europe, and wine, of course, and I even imagine the color has a relation to wine…

it sounds really interesting, I would be eager to explore the whole island. Rumour has it, it is a really packed city, there are loads of flats which consist of only one room, there is a shower room and a tiny kitchen only within a few square meters. What about the transport, does it go off without any hitch in the morning when you commute to work? I firmly doubt I had experience living in a metropolis as I spent roughly a year in London.

Yea Europe is a very attractive place among those people who are from outside of Europe, especially Americans as There are so many historical places, castles, which can’t be found in the States. I like its diversity too, guess what, I haven’t been loads of places yet, literally I’m dying to go to North Europe more exactly Scandinavia one day. I’m fond of north landscapes very much, I couldn’t imagine to live in a place where the climate is tropical, ( I could but just temporarily) Have you ever been to the States? I guess so. did you learn American English in your homecountry?

Oh Wine, There can be obtained a wide selection of wines in the UK. If you like sweet you would definitely love Hungarian wines. To tell you the truth I’m not really fond of it, I prefer dry red wine or rose. It’s getting late and I had better go to bed, I have written too much again, sorry for that

I will certainly try Hungarian wines. I haven’t had them yet but I know a wineshop not far away sells them.

Yes, I’ve been to the States and love it there, too. Actually part of my education was at American school. I stayed primarily in the west coast, really warm and beautiful places. I even call US my “uncleland” for the time I spent with her, my education…, and for Uncle Sam. California Wine is good too and inexpensive.

are you sure they sell Hungarian wines? I would be surprised, if you could get them in Japan  It’s same with me, I consider, UK is my second home.
I’d be eager to go the States too, and Canada one day. In what town or city were you exactly? and what did you study?

Yes, Hungarian wines are available in Japan. I stayed in Torrance the most of the time, near L.A. My major was physics, but I spent about two years more studying the English language at another university after my graduation (in physics).

My favourite places are San Diego and Del Mar nearby L.A. Have you ever been to Del Mar? As far as I know, it’s a tourist paradise…It must be beautiful…

I’m extremely surprised now, even I can’t get Hungarian wines in the UK.

I like San Diego too: Sea World, Midway Carrier, friendly people, beautiful beaches (Del Mar) … but a little away from L.A., in my memory.

Actually we even have Hungarian restaurants. You can find almost anything in Tokyo. Please take a look at:

hungary-wine.com/

It’s in Japanese but I am sure you can recognize the wines.

Fortnight is very common in British English. It is the usual way to describe two weeks, especially two weeks holiday.

In the States you go on vacation for two weeks.
In Britain we go on holiday for a fortnight.

However, usually we would say
“I am going on holiday in two weeks time.”
“How long for?”
“A fortnight.”

You might say it like that Ashby, but I’ve heard, “I’m going on holiday in a fortnight’s time.” often.
It’s quite common, at least in this area.

Sorry for the late replying, It is really surprising as here is impossible to find anything which is made in Hungary. On the other hand you are the second person who told me you can get Hungarian products in another continent. My mate also found Hungarian sausages in Canada. One of my acquaintances used to have a restaurant in the States, they focused on cooking Hungarian dishes, the customers were keen on them! She told me, the chef of the restaurant was asked to go out from the kitchen because the customers wanted to say thank you. She also told me the whole staff were applauded by the customers. Eventually, the restaurant was shut, I don’t know the precise reason. I’m really proud of that you can get Hungarian products in your country as we’re a very small country in compared to Italy, France or Spain which countries usually are the most popular.

Unfortunatelly I cannot recognise none of them  The pics are so small… As I see well, they are red wines mostly. The most famous wine is a white one, called “Tokaji” Very sweet kinda, but nice, try it if you have a chance!

“Tokaji” is right on the picture of the upper right, you can click it to enlarge it.
