For vs to (destination)

Hello,

I have a question on the usage of “for vs to” when it comes to destination:

My flight number is UA545 (bound) for Seoul on August 4th.
My flight number is UA545 (bound) to Seoul on August 4th.

We use “for” when it is used with “bound”. However,

I’d like to reserve a flight to Seoul.
I’d like to reserve a flight to Seoul.

But we use “to” generally, like “go to” or “flight to” as above.

Is there a nuance difference between for and to? Do you use “for” when you say destination?

Thank you in advance,
sweetpumpkin

I would suggest that ‘for’ indicates a sense of purpose and plan whereas ‘to’ is more precise and describes a straight direction.
For example:

You can go for the top of a mountain but not necessarily reach it.

You can go to the top of a mountain and reach it.
