for the sake of....

it takes a little longer to process into the system. For the sake of speed I would rather pick up the form personally instead of filling it out online.

I still don’t get this idiom, For the sake of…
What do they mean by?

So that it can be done as quickly as possible…

Can you give me more example of that idiom.
Easy one please~~~

It’s not really an idiom, but:

My father does not use a computer much so decided to handwrite his letter instead of type it for the sake of speed.
(He would be very slow if he typed it because he would have to look for the letters on the keyboard, so handwriting it is quicker).

We could have had a cheap flight with a stopover, but for the sake of speed we decided to pay extra money for a non-stop flight.

Okay. I think I got it.
Does it always use to be done something quickly?

How about this? Here is my example.

For the sake of avoiding any serious problem to my baby, I don’t give her any dangerous objects such as a sharp fork, knife, or pen.

That usage is okay.
