For security purpose

Hello,

When you say a phrase “for security purpose”, do you have to put “-s” in the end of purpose?

  1. for security purpose
  2. for security purposes
  3. both are acceptable

What do you think? I googled, and there are many results by searching “for security purpose”. I think it’s grammatically wrong and it needs an article. But, is it acceptable to say “for security purpose”?

Thank you in advance,
sweetpumpkin

Only #2. If you want the singular: ‘for the purpose of security’. Beware Madame Google; she is sometimes wayward.
