for half an hour/for a half an hour

Hello!
I have the sentences: ‘I have been waiting for Laura for half an hour.’
or ‘I have been waiting for Laura for a half an hour.’
Which one is correct?

Both are used, even though the ‘a’ in the second version is not necessary.
