When we chinese’s opinions are different from others. The strongest word to let us shut up seems to be :“brainwashed”. Only stupid people can be brainwashed. so this word is also very rude and humiliating. If you can justify your opinion, the word is avoidable.

I have seen very intelligent people be brainwashed in quite a few situations. In fact, it’s often easier to brainwash an intelligent person than it is a stupid person, because the intelligent person is capable of seeing more points of view, so he is one step closer to believing them.
Also, it’s not hard for a con artist to swindle an intelligent person. He just needs the right skills.
One example: millions of American and British citizens were brainwashed into thinking that Saddam Hussein was of more a threat that he really was. The consequences are apparent.
Another: thousands of nonnative English speakers brainwashed into believing that AmE and BrE are the only true, correct and respectable forms of the language.
Three: Millions of people brainwashed into thinking that every Muslim in the world is out to kill them.
All the above are probably quite intelligent folk, but at least we can have faith in these words:

Everyone is influenced by the culture, education background, media and so on so that he/she has different point of view towards the same case. But they are not brainwashed. The word is terriblly vicious and humiliating because when you say somebody is brainwashed you think you are superior to him/her and wiser.The subconscious meaning is “you see, stupid you, you are cheated.”
Another: Thousands of linguistics and ESL teaching students brainwashed into believing that there’s no difference between native English speech and really good non-native English speech, that non-standard forms are as valid as standard forms, and that all of them should be accepted on the same level.
Some people get so brainwashed into this notion that it becomes an obsession that they bring up in any conversation, no matter what the original topic was.
As for Saddam Hussein, keep watching, because not all the documentation and witness testimony has been sifted through.

But I know some major enterprises in industries like schools, steel&iron factory, mineral resources factories and so on are still state-owned, am I right? The proportion is declining. But it is different from pure capitalism countries.
