Exactly one week ago we stared our forum and today we received the following email from of our readers. Please find below our response. You see, it takes time to start a forum simply because most people wait until someone takes the first step and asks a question. Alan and Sue used to answer grammar questions via email individually. Now, that Slava has set up this forum system for us - why shouldn’t we use it? We check for postings several times a day and you will receive and answer to any of your questions within a couple of hours…

Dear Alan,
As always, I found your essay informative and enjoyable at the same time.
If you don’t mind, I have a grammar question I would like you to please answer.
Here it is:
At the very beginning of your e-mail message you write, “Do you know Umberto Eco?” - Would you please explain why “Do you know Umberto Eco?” and not "Do you know OF Umberto Eco? or “Do you know Umberto ABOUT Eco?” - What is the difference between them? How about saying/writing “Have you ever heard of Umberto Eco?”

You see, this grammar issue will be interesting to many people around the world and Alan’s response will be helpful to a lot of students. Alan will answer any of your grammar questions on the forum.
