I am demuring at what the mistakes in these sentences are.Please help me find them and could you spare your little time to correct them for me?Thanks in advance!
Sentence 1 is:‘She hasn’t much money to spend because she can find out only a part-time job’
Sentence 2 is:‘If an ambulance isn’t coming soon,the passenger who has many deep cuts in the head and shoulders will bleed to die’
Sentence 3 is:‘English has become a world language because of its establishment as a mother-tongue out of England’
I can only find out the mistake in the sentence 2 which is the word ‘die’,and I turn it into ‘death’.But i am not sure about my correction.
It’s perhaps the way I interpreted the expression: ‘a mother-tongue out of England’. I assumed this to mean a mother tongue that had been created/developed in other countries. That’s why I suggested ‘outside’, in other words not in England itself. The use of ‘out of’ suggests to me originating from.
Yes, Alan, I understand the sentence the same as you, and I also agree that “outside” is the best choice here, but about the use of “out of” in this sentence, I still wonder why it is not all right because after all, English really comes from England, right?
Well, you can’t have both. Either it means English has come out of England in the sense of that’s where it started/originated or we’re talking about the use of English as a first language in different countries which are outside England/in other countries.
my key says that the word should be corrected is:
Sentence 1:‘a part-time job’
Sentence 2:‘die’
Sentence 3:‘out of’
But unfortunately,the correction of my book was lost and it’s an old book so I think,maybe,its mistakes are wrong.That’s the reason why i ask you.
and I don’t agree with Alan’s correction to the sentence 1 because i think, the word’only’ is placed after ‘find out’ to press the job she could find so it’s correct.

I have just look the word ‘only’ up in my dictionary,and there is an example:’‘I really don’t like this book’’ and think the word ‘only’ is placed here in order to press that he didn’t like that book at all but ‘‘I don’t really like this book’’ is ok however it has a more slight meaning than the first.So again,i don’t think the correct ‘can only find’ is not neccessary.
Could you please explain the reason why you turn ‘can find only’ into ‘can only find’ ,Alan?

The error in your first sentence is the word ‘out’. That word should be deleted.
The word ‘only’ can be left where it is, but the word order ‘can only find’ would definitely be more common.
There are actually two errors in sentence 2. See Alan’s corrections above.
I agree that ‘out of’ is wrong in sentence 3 and should be ‘outside’.
