Face and be faced with

Hi teachers again,
can you explain to me the difference between “face something” and “be faced with something”?

In both cases something presents itself to you like an opportunity’/situation/chance or whatever. If you face it, you are about to do something about the situation or whatever. If you are faced with it, you have to do something very soon because it requires immediate action.
