Hi,

Yes it’s correct.

Alan

It is more common with two L’s, in America anyway: installment

Microsoft Word in American English counts ‘instalment’ as a misspelled word!!

paying in installments is not a common practice in the USA, right? I mean, one doesn’t go shopping and pay it in installments even when the purchase is expensive, do they?
in which situation do people pay in installments, please? when buying a car or a house?
thanks.

Well, often people pay with credit card when they shop, and MANY have debt from this that they do pay in monthly installments. And you are right, for a bigger purchase like a car or a house, one would get a loan for that specifically, which he/she would pay in installments.
