Expressing opposite points of view

Hi,

what is the best way to express in english two opposite points of view ?

are the following expressions correct ?

1)From one side…, from the other side…
2)One one side…, on the other side…

Many thanks, Alex

Hi

‘On the one hand…, on the other hand…’

Hi Alex

Your phrases are not used in English. Tamara’s suggestion is standard.

You could also words such as whereas or while to join two clauses expressing different points of view.

Other words used to contrast ideas are:

  • in spite of
  • despite
  • although
  • however
  • but
