'exposed for what it is'

Perhaps the most that can be said is that it is in those compensation claims that
seem to threaten our ‘core values’ that the bluntness of ‘legal principle’ is
exposed for what it is.

What is the meaning of ‘the bluntness of “legal principle” is
exposed for what it is’ or rather the whole sentence?

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps the most that can be said is – Maybe the only thing that we can say is

that it is in those compensation claims that seem to threaten our ‘core values’ – that we can see that those immoral/unethical claims for repayment

that the bluntness of ‘legal principle’ is exposed for what it is. – show us clearly that the legal principle is ‘blunt’ (too general? too rigid?)
