Exercise: My brother is in California on a vacation, but I wish he were here...

Question 1: Find and correct one mistake in each of the following sentences:

  1. My brother is in California on a vacation, but I wish he were here so that he could help me repair my car.
  2. I certainly appreciate him telling us about the delay in delivering the materials to our factory.
(Please explain to me where it is incorrect and why)

I dont’ see anything wrong in any of the above sentences.

I think the first sentence could also be rephrased as:

  1. My brother is in California on a vacation, but I wish he were/was here to help me repair my car.

And the second one as

  1. I certainly appreciate his telling us about the delay in delivering the materials to our factory.

I think that “on a vacation” is not standard. You should say on vacation.

Hi ngoanhquan,

It’s probably better if you remove your email addresses from your post because otherwise your addresses will get collected by spam bots. This means, you soon will get tons of unsolicited spam emails and I don’t think your Yahoo email account can handle them.
