Would everyone wearing face masks help us slow the pandemic?
Should it be “everyone wearing a face mask” instead?
Thanks.

I think both are possible since everyone can wear a number of face masks – a different mask on each occasion.
Should everyone wear a face mask help us to slow the pandemic?
Please note that there is a ‘to’ missing in your sentence:
Should everyone wear a face mask to help us to slow the pandemic?
And I think it goes without saying that the answer to your rhetorical question is yes.
I couldn’t agree more.
Thank you sir Torsten, for your correction.
This is a great question actually. Here is an interesting info https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/would-everyone-wearing-face-masks-help-us-slow-pandemic
P.S.: They’ve missed “to” too:)
Hi Mark, welc to our forum and thanks for sharing your first post. Please note that the noun ‘information’ is uncountable in English so we say ‘an interesting piece of information’.
Also, the sentence you are quoting uses a different structure than the one I was referring to. Please check both examples again to see the difference.
Thank God that the vaccine is already being mass-produced, and more and more people are vaccinated. I really hope that we will not wear masks soon.
Unfortunately, in a couple of months or even weeks most countries in the global north will have completely forgotten about the pandemic and its causes.
Even otherwise, I think ‘everyone’ being a distributive pronoun can take a plural noun (masks) as we use the neuter gender pronoun ‘they’ for ‘everyone’.
Do I make sense, @Torsten?
By the way, isn’t the ‘face’ in ‘face mask’ redundant?
Then, probably, they are heading for a catastrophe as the recurrence of the pandemic is recording a higher rate of positivity than ever before, especially in Asia.
I really hope that there will be no catastrophe with the disease and we will gradually return to normal life in a few years without masks, quarantines and other restrictions. However, we still wear masks, although I don’t think they protect us so much. Masks have already become an element of our wardrobe so that you can wear not only a simple mask but with a print or other colour. I found [top medical masks with design] on one resource and ordered some beautiful masks for different days of the week. In this way, I get in the mood and the people who see me in this mask do the same.
