TOEIC listening, talks: Leaving a voice message for a potential Internet business partner[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten and other trainers,

I’d like to express my interest in working with this new group, alongside our other future projects.

As I explained apart from the week following the 14th of June, due to my late return from Spain, I’m happy to spend some time here.

It would be good to share the groups we have planned with other trainers to give the students a lot more variety in experience, culture, training techniques and of course personalities.

I would like to wish everybody a great bank holiday weekend!!

Scott

Hello everyone.

Today was my first day with the Neubrandenburg group.
I spent the first hour learning a little about the students and there backgrounds and then explaining my own background and reasons for being in Germany.
After the Introductions were complete, I began with some simple exercises to asses for myself the level of English from the Individual students.
Firstly we began to discuss the favourite foods of the students.

Giving examples on the blackboard and explaining the simple sentence structure and words. After open discussion in the classroom, the students then wroth down a short sentence naming there favourite food. And then a short sentence giving the reason why they likes this food.
This simple exercises allowed them to construct simple English sentences with words that they could readily associate with.

The second exercise of the morning, consisted of the students creating a human creature on the blackboard. Naming the different parts of the body and other clothing items, they students were able to construct a very interesting humanoid character. Any missing characteristics were quickly clarified. This game actually proved quite effective, as it caught the attention and imaginations of the students.

The third exercise was explaining the difference between “there is….” And “there are……”
For this exercise we created on the blackboard a drawing of the classroom.
Under the drawing we had the two examples, “there is and there are”
Explain that one is single and the other is plural.
Using the drawing, the students had to writhe down two examples each of there is and there are in complete sentences.
The results from this exercise was very positive.

Then we continued with the drawing from the classroom and discussed the English words for the different elements that make-up the room.
We also discussed the different positions for the elements in the room.

Finally for the last 40 minutes of the day, the students talked about there families and how many children they had. This was a good exercise as it not only practised good conversation and pronunciation but also education the students to each others background and so help in forming a better cohesion within the student group.

My over view from today, is that the students are very motivated and interested to lean. Many of the students have only basic English with some words. But there is good cohesion already in this group and the group shows a real interest in learning more. With the right pace, this group should have no problems in develop rapidly and strongly.

Started our day with the students talking about there last evening. The students talked about what they thought was good and interesting about there privies day in School.
And then what they had done with there families in the evening afterwards.
The students also discussed in English a new music concert that had started in Neubrandenburg.

Working on the students grammar we discussed the differences between singular and plural. After giving examples on the white board, the student were asked to write there own examples of each on the white board. After correcting these, the students continued and wroth down 7 sentences demonstrating these differences.

After lunch the weather was so beautiful the students and myself decided it was better if we continued our English lessons in the nearby park.
The students were strongly encouraged by myself only to speak English during this time. The students happily obliged and explained some of the environment and history of the area to me .
I then corrected there grammar and pronunciation and was also able to add more word to there vocabulary list by explaining there surroundings in English.

After retuning back to the School, we talked about the history of both Germany and Ireland, with there differences and similarities.

This morning we started as normal with the student discussing there last evening. The student were asked this time to write there evening plan out on paper and then I corrected there grammar and pronunciation.

After that we started with a new topic, Describing Historical event.
We first discussed the meaning of a historical evening and using the white board, we wrote down all the different types of a historical event.
The students suggested different idea of what could be thought of as a historical event and then we categorised them into tighter topic grouping.
The students then had to write about 3 different historical event in there life that they felt was especially important. May of the student decided to discuss there family as historical events.

After lunch, we began to explain the colours in English.
We decided what was the best image or typical symbol for each colour.
We marked the colour on the white board with corresponding symbols to help the students remember the colours.

After the colours were explained, the student had to make 6 sentence, describing a object or room with more than 3 colours in each sentence. This again was a good practice for applying colour to things the students would remember.
After this exercise was completed, the students had to swop there work with another student and check each others sentence.
The sentence were returned and the student had to read one more time the finalised version.

Today we began with our traditional task, discussing the students last evening.
When the students had completed discussing this topic together, we decided to create a vocabulary list for Free-time activities.
The student had to contribute to this list and give example of where it could be utilized.

We then began to work with the Crime story book.
We read though 4 page of text. Each student had to read one paragraph and then within the student group, translate the word and sentences to German.

This process of translation, using no dictionary demonstrated that as a collective, the students could translate and understand over 90 percent of all the text. Only some of more abstract word and phrase left the students at a loss.
But I was able to quickly clarify these little problems.

After lunch we worked from the Book material provided and we worked through material dealing with Travel and business conversations.
The student also worked on polite question and requests in a business environment.
The students then had to construct there own conversations with polite requests, using the material from the earlier work papers.

The student were able to using there growing grammar and vocabulary to describe in even more details the actions of there evenings.
This was a excellent way to start the day as it allowed each student to express what was good and bad and also made the other student interested in each other.
Helping to build a stronger bond between the students.

After this was completed, we worked on building a vocabulary list of words for specialised work forces.

The student had asked especially for this a they believed it would be very beneficial for future work and job interviews.
A large vocabulary word list was created and then the students had to create sentences using examples from each category that had been discussed.

After breakfast we then worked on vocabulary and grammar around the subject of food shopping.

After translating the words and explaining the grammar and also the meaning and essence of the complete sentences, the student were tasked with creating a short story on who they believed was the murderer in the book and why.

This again was more good practice in making complete sentence structures.
It also allowed the students to utilize what we had learnt the week before.

Some of the result were very impressive.
A mall portion of the student found these tasks a little challenging but were able with some help to create very well structured sentence.
After this was completed the students had to stand up and read there individual “Mini Crimes”.

Today we began with our normal ritual of discussing our evening. This did not involve writhing. All the student had to explain what they had done for there last evening in as much detail as possible.
This was a very productive lesson as it made the students actually aware of the importance of making conversation in English.

Some of the student felt that this small exercise was so important that they began to prepare there sentence the night before.
Creating unofficially home work for themselves.

After this was completed, we read 4 pages of our criminal drama book and then translated with the students. The students as always had great fun in doing this exercise.

I then gave the students a challenge, to create there own private mini crime story. Using examples from what they had read and also from samples I had written on the white board, the student were given a hour to construct a interesting and creative crime story.
This exercise bore fruit and the students created not only creative and imaginative mini stories but also incredibly funny stories.
This was a excellent exercise and build up the confidence of the students.

In the final quarter of the day, the students discussed Positions and Movement.
This was not set down in the curriculum from the school but I felt it was very important for the students to understand the ideas of position and movement.

For my last day we spent the first two hours reading the students favourite criminal story book.

They loved to read crime stores and it allowed them to be curies about what was happening now in the story and what could happen in the future.

We had great fun reading and translating this crime book together.

After the crime book, we began to discuss the basic idea of simple comparisons in English and gave many example on the white board.
The students had to write 6 different sentence with examples, demonstrating these comparisons.
The student then had to read out loud there 6 sentence and the students discussed what they believed what correct and false. I interceded and clarified when necessary.

The next subject of training was more practice with building up correct conversations.
Using simple topics the students had to create 6 simple conversation in 6 different environmental situation.
For example asking a London police man the direction to the train station.
