English letter sounds.

Good afternoon.
I wonder if anybody happens to know of any program, book or a link that might contain information regarding letter sounds in English. Any information will be appreciated.

God Bless you all.
Cisco.

Hi Cisco

Do you mean the various ways vowels and consonants are pronounced in words? Or do you simply mean the letters as they are pronounced in the alphabet? Are you looking for something that illustrates with pictures (i.e. shows the mouth and tongue) how to say things?

Hi Cisco

Do you mean the various ways vowels and consonants are pronounced in words? Or do you simply mean the letters as they are pronounced in the alphabet? Are you looking for something that illustrates with pictures (i.e. shows the mouth and tongue) how to say things?

Once I ran into a website, which unfortunately I did not save in my favorites, that shows the whole list of about 108 different sounds that English language has, combinations of letters that create different sounds, examples:

“TH” as in therefore, thru, three, etc. creates a specific sound.

“igh” creates different sounds depending if it is preceded by a vowel or a consonant.
eight, light, plight, sight, etc.

I want to improve my pronunciation by following that sound guide and, at the same time, I want to know or understand the reason for the same combo of letters to sound different as in:

“OO” door, floor, vs. mood, moon, good, soon.

I have been trying to retrieve that website without any luck so far, therefore, I am recurring in here for help.

Amy, thanks a lot for your help.

God Bless you.
Cisco.
