Eilenburg, from 25.02.13

Dear students,

We have been working since 25.02.13 with you and, as you see, have already done a lot.
As you remember we have revised:
the alphabet,
the numbers and the telephone numbers,
how to ask different questions and share your personal information,
Present simple vs. Present progressive tenses
and many other little but important things.

We also learned how to book a hotel room, by a ticket, talk at the check in desk and on the telephone.

Don’t forget about such a phenomena as idioms! Pay your attention, that word for word translation doesn’t make any sense, sometimes.

You are always asking me to give you some additional tasks to work and train at home, here we go:

A couple of words about what is coming to us – we are going to deal with the Business Thriller ‘Greed Will Kill You’ and keep on polishing our knowledge in all different areas of the language.

Have a very productive week! =)

We have been working three days with Mr Daerr.
We learned about English vs. German, present perfect progressive, many new business vocabulary words such as purchase, turnover, insurance and executive, how to speak about ourselves and many other things.

We gave a presentation about our favorite bands and we looked at our environment to see how many English words there are and we can use them in daily conversations.

Hi, everyone,

For the past two weeks we have been learning a lot of new stuff. Some of the topics we did several times. The new ones we learned are the following:

  • phonetic alphabet
  • speaking on the telephone
  • checking in at the airport
  • difference betweeen abbreviations and acronyms
  • present perfect progressive
  • booking and reservation exercise

And last but not least we started to treat the business Thriller “Chapter I”. Ang. is also going to give a presentation on the German/British band Element of Crime. We hope, we can all sing some of the songs together. Maybe we can even record some new songs and sell them on the Internet to make a few euros.

Enjoy the weekend!

Hey everyone,

In the last days we also talked about the weather and the clock. Everybody had to introduce oneself. We also learned to differentiate between using much and many. In addition we used the polite requests in spoken and written English. By the way, we practised to understand native speakers by listening to English songs or watching English movies. We pluralized nouns in English, too.

Dear students,

you have been working hard during the last lessons and have learnd:

how to describe a company and to do marketing research;
how to describe a place and to give directions;
personal qualities and occupations;
the main departments of a company.

We also have refreshed the Past Simple tense and practiced this, talking about your experience. I’m glad you could have some feedback about the presentations you’ve gave.

Have a nice week and enjoy the movie!
