Driver vs. Drover

Dear Learners,

We know what drive, drove and Driver mean.

Do you know what Drover means?

Which is …

drov·er (drvr) n. One that drives cattle or sheep.

drover [ˈdrəʊvə] n (Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Agriculture) a person whose occupation is the driving of sheep or cattle, esp to and from market

kind regards.

It’s interesting to know…

Yes, that’s the spell of languages. You can’t learn a language to the end. Even a person with PHD ( linguistics ) still can make blunders and mistakes.

No one is infallible.

kind regards.

Another thing to note in the definition of drover. When it says ‘the driving of sheet and cattle’, it doesn’t mean he uses a vehicle. It means someone who walks along behind the animals driving them.

Thank you, sometimes a drover can be a bull runner in front of a horde of short tempered bulls like in the films. lol

kind regards.

kyaw

Dear Kyaw! I don’t know what the topic is about ,but one thing is sure for me: or my computer is not ok. or my server play tricks with me.So, sometimes my internet is on, and more often it is off. You can imagine how crazy I’m.

I’m greeting you . Alicja

dear alicja,

your computer seems infested with virus. Just put in in a bucket and boil it.
or check virus and delete them.

kind regards.

Dear Kyaw! You are right. I don’t know why my computer is so attractive for viruses. I think I must get use to liking them. But I really hate my server, who still blame my computer ,whereas it is his fault.

Alicja:-))

It’s quite easy, you download free edition of Bitdefender or Kaspersky antivirus and burn them good. It’s joyful to kill virus. The world today is a heaven for those of leeches, viruses, lice, cockroaches and etc. I’m happy to kill them.

kind regards.

Oh! Thank you very much Kyaw! I hope You not joking and and it will work. I’m going to follow your good advise.

Grateful Alicja!

the driving of sheet?
You sure you don’t mean sheep?
:)))

Sorry, of course it’s sheep!

Maybe a herd of ewes, lol

kind regards.

what is the different between “advise” and “advice”?
…maybe one of them is a verb and one of them is a noun…?

it’s a good question for me! I never couldn’t distinguish it!

many thanks for the answer!
ps. and more for the explanation!

You are right, ‘advise’ is a verb, and ‘advice’ is a noun.

oh, thank you!, but sometimes i forget which one is the verb, or noun.
